The FIRST Latina founded sorority in the Pacific Northwest and the FIRST multicultural organization at the University of Oregon. Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority Inc. remains an innovative leader in the Fraternity/Sorority community, remains true to its Founders’ purpose and pillars that were developed in 1993. Every member of Gamma Alpha Omega is unique in their way yet all possess the bond of friendship and sisterhood through this organization. Gamma Alpha Omega isn't just one more collegiate experience one can do, it is a lifetime commitment with support, opportunities, and family. Some undergraduate members' experiences include fun social events, chapter meetings, and leadership opportunities, and community service, but her Gamma experience will grow into much more later. When a Gamma graduate and is ready to look for her first professional job, or when she expands her family, or when she moves to an unfamiliar city; the sisterhood of Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority Inc. will be a part of her.

WHO CAN  JOIN ΓΑΩ?

Membership Eligibility Requirements
Individuals interested in joining Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority Inc. must meet the following requirements:

  • (1) Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program and be a full-time student at the University of Oregon

  • (2) Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale

  *Individuals who were or are an activated member of any Greek-lettered organization, except honorary and professional organizations, are not eligible for membership in Gamma Alpha Omega.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO JOIN?

Come and join us in our recruitment week events

During that week you can become better acquainted with the Chapter members, not only we get to meet you but you as well get to see if Gamma Alpha Omega is a fit for you. 

Application 

There is an application during recruitment for those interested to be filled out.

Prospective Active Education Program
The Prospective Active Education Program integrates the teaching of our sorority foundation, prepares women to join our organization, but more importantly, instills the commitment of being a lifetime member. The Prospective Active, or New Member, Education Program is a place for learning and experiencing educational offerings. Topics covered in the program include:

  • Expectations of Membership

  • HERstory

  • Scholarship

  • Service and Philanthropy

  • Sisterhood

  • Standards

  • The Fraternity & Sorority World

*A thing to remember is that we do not give you letters you EARN them.
